Dating Safety

Online dating works better when safety steps are normal, visible, and easy to use.

AfroVibe encourages thoughtful dating and practical caution. Chemistry matters, but so do boundaries, verification, and knowing when to slow down.

Before you build trust

  • Read profiles carefully and look for contradictions, copied bios, or pressure to leave the app immediately.
  • Watch for fake profiles that avoid normal questions, reuse glamorous photos, or push a story that feels scripted.
  • Protect personal information such as your home address, workplace details, family records, financial accounts, and identity numbers.

During conversation

Use the block feature when a person becomes manipulative, disrespectful, sexually aggressive, or unsafe. Blocking is private and should not require negotiation.

Use the report tools when behavior may put other members at risk. That includes scams, extortion, impersonation, underage concerns, hate speech, repeated harassment, and requests for money.

Never send money

Do not send money, gift cards, airtime, crypto, bank transfers, or emergency travel funds to someone you met through the platform. Genuine relationships do not need financial pressure as proof of care.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in public for the first few dates.
  • Tell a trusted friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport and stay in control of your phone, drink, and exit plan.

Next step

If something feels wrong, act early

You do not owe anyone continued access to you. Report, block, and contact support when needed.
